We’ve finally put our heads together and formulated our Matches of the Month list for March 2025. This month we’re changing the format slightly:
We’re looking at all matches worldwide, not separating by regions like before.
The list was curated with two main factors contributing to the ranking order:
One factor is our average match ratings using our 0-to-5 scale.
The second is personal top matches lists submitted by WrestleWatch contributors. This is why some matches may have a rating out of sequence from how they’re ranked on the list.
Our goal for MatchNotes is to highlight great wrestling throughout the year on a consistent rating scale. We hope to bring together a multitude of opinions on wrestling happening around the world. Without much further ado, it’s time to look at our Matches of the Month for March 2025.
#5: Konosuke Takeshita (c) vs Kenny Omega for the AEW International Championship
AEW Revolution
Rating: 4.71/5
TC: This was not the insane bombfest that their All Out match was but somehow they crafted something just as good by milking the drama around Kenny's diverticulitis. Takeshita never seemed to die in this match and flipped the script whenever Omega got any advantage. This all led to Kenny sneaking out the win with a roll-up to leave the question open as to who the better man truly is and hopefully set up a rubber match. Masterful stuff from two of the best in the world.

#4: Sareee vs Syuri
SareeeISM Chapter VII
Rating: 4.67/5
1 MOTM vote
Ryan: This was an expertly crafted bout, which is something that I’ve come to expect from Sareee and why she got so many nods last year as a potential Booker of the Year. Sareee lays out her matches to be fast-paced but methodical; no movement is wasted, no moment is left to sit too long. This match with Syuri felt raw and technical, displaying both wrestlers’ prowess in the ring and ability to tell an expert story by focusing on certain body parts and increasingly selling damage to them throughout the match.
And in a way that does not spoil the ending, the finish to this match truly sets it apart from others of its class; I’ll let you watch and judge for yourself.

#3: Speedball Mike Bailey vs Ricochet vs Mark Davis vs Orange Cassidy
AEW Dynamite 03.19.25
Rating: 4.57/5
Ryan: Non-stop action is what you want from a match with three or more competitors, and this one had it in spades showcasing both the strengths and breadth of each competitor. All had to work with the acrobatics of Bailey and Ricochet, the power of Davis, and the comedy of Cassidy which lead to very fun sequences such as a running joke of Cassidy attempting suplexes.
The breakout star of this match was Mark Davis, who made it known to all detractors that he could hang with the upper midcarders and deserved his spot in this affair. And what’s more is the finish was something I don’t think I had ever witnessed before, impressive in this day.

#2: Will Ospreay vs Kyle Fletcher in a Cage match
AEW Revolution
Rating: 4.71/5
1 MOTM vote
TC: This was a violent, bloody, emotional affair that still managed to weave in the spots and athleticism you expect from these two. Ospreay's obviously one of the greatest wrestlers of all time and Fletcher's improvement in every aspect of his game cannot be understated. Maybe the greatest cage match of all time.

Honorable Mentions
Before we get to #1, here are a few matches from March 2025 that we wanted to recognize that didn’t quite make the cut:
Kevin Owens vs Sami Zayn in an Unsanctioned match — WWE Elimination Chamber
Saya Kamitani vs Tam Nakano — Stardom Nighter 2025
Adam Page vs MJF — AEW Revolution
Los Titanes del Aire (Hologram & Komander) vs. El Sky Team (Mascara Dorada & Mistico) — CMLL Homenaje a Dos Leyendas
#1: Toni Storm (c) vs Mariah May in a Falls Count Anywhere match for the AEW Women’s World Championship
AEW Revolution
Rating: 4.82/5
2 MOTM votes
Chris: A bloody, brutal and emotional ending to what has been the greatest feud in AEW’s women’s division to date. From start to finish this match embodied the conflicting emotions both wrestlers feel for each other, hatred and love driving Storm and May to go to such lengths to finish the other off and put an end to their dance.
Through taped glass fists, weaponized high heels, and a blade job worthy of the Muta Scale, this match exemplifies the heights women’s deathmatch wrestling can reach if given the opportunity to explore violence in this way.
